About: Yiwen, My Journey

Life is a journey. Where shall we begin?

A Chinese Family

I was born in a traditional Chinese family. My parents taught me Taoism ideas at a young age. “Wu Wei” (Non-action) 無為 has been an essential guide in my path of growth. I practiced Qi Gong daily in the park with my Sifu and mother as part of the morning routine.

PhD. in Science from the Netherlands

I came to Amsterdam to studied Multimedia & Culture at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2004; then joined the research project team at Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. I completed the Doctoral degree Ph.D in Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2011.

A Year of Nomadic Travel

In 2011-2012, I travelled in China and Tibet, together with my partner Dr. Anton and our newborn baby. Like a nomad, into the wild, continuous movement and adventure, the minimalist lifestyle… It brought me a new perspective towards life. Also, it deepened my childhood understanding about “Wu Wei” (Non-action) for simplicity and happiness.

Yoga Teacher

Back to Amsterdam, I stopped the research work. As a career change, I continued daily Yoga practice and completed a series of yoga teacher trainings: Family Kids Yoga (Rainbow Yoga, London, 2014); Vinyasa Yoga (Svaha Yoga, Amsterdam, 2015-2016); Iyengar Yoga (Iyengar Yoga Amsterdam, 2017-2018); Advanced Hatha Yoga (Mysore, India, 2018); Yin Yoga and traditional Chinese medicine (Yinspiration, Brussel, 2019); Myofasical Release and Yin Yoga (Yinspiration, 2020), etc. I began teaching yoga at Svaha Yoga Amsterdam in 2016. Since then, I have taught at various yoga studios (such as The White Door Studio), gyms, and yoga festivals.

Acupuncturist / TCM Practitioner

I began my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the summer school of Shanghai TCM University, China. Then, I continued the TCM education under the mentorship of Jo Phee (specializing in TCM and Yin Yoga) and Mimi Kuo-Deemer (focusing on TCM and Qi Gong). Later, I completed:
i) Foundation of Chinese Medicine and
ii) Foundation of Western Medicine (2021–2022).
Then, I pursued:
iii) Acupuncture and
iv) Tui Na Massage (2023-2025) at the Shenzhou Open University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Netherlands.
Since 2024, I have been working as a doctor’s assistant at Shenzhou Clinic.
